tutored area students shut out of education by the closing of county public schools... (that would be our very own Dr. Shaw!)

The Division for Career Development and Transition (DCDT) of the Council for Exceptional Children will be
holding its 2010 conference in Mystic, Connecticut. The conference is sponsored in part by CPED and will be
held October 13-15, 2010. See the 2010 Conference Flyer or registration form for additional information.
Wayne Miller, a doctoral student in CPED, was invited to participate in the Veterans in Higher Education Professionals'
Roundtable in Tucson, Arizona, September 22-25, 2009. This roundtable is part of a grant entitled, The Disabled Veterans
Reintegration and Education Project. The purpose of the roundtable is to bring together professionals in higher education,
non-profit agencies, and the VA system to improve higher education for all student veterans.
The Center's annual Postsecondary Disability Training Institute was once again a huge success with 262 attendees. Click

The Center will begin offering graduate level coursework in postsecondary disability services

Joe Madaus is coordinating the developemnt of a Connecticut Chapter of the Division for Career Development and Transition. The
first meeting will be held in September in Middletown, CT. Please contact Joe at joem@uconn.edu if you

requirements of the Individiuals with Disabilities Education Act of 2004.
